What is this “virtual postpartum doula” thing?

Happy March everyone!

If you haven’t been following me on my Instagram or my Facebook group, then you probably haven’t heard the news- my postpartum services are shifting!

Starting in June, my postpartum offerings will become virtual. (My birth services will stay the same, so no changes there!) There are some personal reasons why I’m transitioning to virtual postpartum care- like schedule changes, as well as wanting more time with my kiddos- but the main reasons are for the benefits of YOU, my clients!

Virtual doula services have so many benefits. They are for the postpartum mom who needs someone to help her verbally process her birth, lactation needs, sleep woes, relationship changes, etc. They are for the husband who sees his wife struggling emotionally and mentally, and wants to plug her into support immediately, without having to wait weeks for an appointment. They are for the family who needs resources and support during those first few postpartum weeks, but can’t afford the fee of a postpartum doula.

As a virtual postpartum doula, I can support any family, anywhere- not just those within a 60 mile radius of me!

And honestly, during my postpartum, I would have felt very stressed having someone in my personal space. I would have felt pressured to clean my house and make my kids behave and wear real pants- but if I could have had support from someone online? That would have been a life saver.

In my doula work, I always strive to be what I needed when I was younger- what my mother would have needed when she was younger. And going virtual is doing exactly that.

So how does it work?

I will be offering 30 minute and 50 minute sessions, at $25 and $35, respectively.

A doula provides support emotionally, physically and informationally, and a virtual postpartum doula is no different. During our session, we’ll discuss how you’re sleeping, your nutrition, your baby’s wellbeing, your emotional and mental health and so much more. I’ve been trained in lactation, safe sleeping, and perinatal mood disorders, so I can be as well informed as possible to help you best.

Helping you figure out the help you need and connecting you to the resources right for you is a big part of what I do as a virtual postpartum doula. If something is out of my scope of practice, I can quickly connect you to someone who is an expert in that area!

If you know someone who needs a virtual postpartum doula, my books are open now. I’ll be transitioning to only online postpartum support in June, but this is a service I offer right now!

And if you need more hands on support, I’m available through May 31, and I would love to help you!
